The Sunday Post (1)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by  Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It's a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Wrapping up a rather lonesome blog week without Randi, who seemed to think it was important to go see Obama in person. . . jealous.  I kicked off the weekend with a winery trip instead, which was pretty excellent.  But on to books!

Last week on the blog we brought you:

The Little Woods (that couldn't...), by McCormick Templeman.
Randi delivered a scathing critique of The Little Woods.
(Review)
I usually keep post-its at places in a book where I especially like the writing…In this book, I placed more than 20 in the first 200 pages and all were complaints about the writing.
Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books on Your Fall TBRs
Randi and I pooled our top choices!
(Top Ten Tuesday)

Waiting on Wednesday
Randi and I shared books that have us on the edge of our seats
(WoW)

Help me decide what to read next!  I'd still love some votes on this one.
(What's Next)

Anna and the French Flop
My two star critique of Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins
(Review)
This book was a giant block of cheese, and not the delicious French kind.  It was Velveta...the characters in this book were so bland they made vanilla look exotic.

An Abundance of Katherines, by John Green
My four and a half star review of Green's novel
(Review)

If I could only read one author of YA contemporary realism ever again,it would be John Green. He has a very consistent style of writing, character type and even message, yet it never gets boring.

This week on the blog look for:

A look at the author of Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars
(Author Study)

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie
What did Randi think of this often banned book?
(Review)

Top Ten Tueday: Books That Make You Think
The books that kept me wondering long after I'd finished them.
(Top Ten Tuesday)

Waiting on Wednesday
Which books are Randi and I eagerly awaiting?
(WoW)

Twice Baked Thursday: Neverwhere, by Neil Gaiman
Randi and I go head to head reviewing the same book.
(Twice Baked Thursday)

The Iron King, by Julie Kagawa
My review of a popular fantasy novel
(Review)

Stacking the Shelves or Mystery Review
See if Randi has gone on another book-buying spree or if she read one of here towering stack instead.
(???)

  4. I have my upcoming Fall reads on the blog this week and Laini's book is on my list! I must tell you I read that Jonathon Strange book a couple of years ago and oh my gosh it was so slow and rather boring. It took me forever to read it and I can honestly say it was not one of my favs. Hope you have better luck with it! Enjoy your week. Thanks for visiting my blog!

Oh, now THAT'S funny about Anna! I haven't read it, but so many people gush over it.

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with any of those books you're wanting to read, but I like the cover of The Magician King :D

(Personally, I didn't get the hype with Anna after reading it. But I still want to read Lola and the Boy Next Door!)

  10. Is it sad that I still have not read a John Green novel? I feel seriously out of the loop, it looks like everyone but me has read one. I'll have to check out your reviews and see what you thought, it seems like everyone has been gushing over Anna so I'm curious to see why you didn't like it.
Thanks for visiting my blog and happy reading!
