This week....I (Randi) got to meet Lois Lowry!!! I know, right! It was so fitting that she came to speak/read during Banned Books Week since The Giver continues to be one of the most challenged books! Also, I would like to mention that Ms. Lowry is the first young adult author I've ever had the chance to see since, despite Iowa City being one of UNESCO's Cities of Literature, we don't get very many young adult authors visiting, which is very sad!
I already had a copy of The Giver, but I figured I might as well put them all in the picture. :) All of these are signed!
Then I got home late last night only to find a package on my couch which contained....

I remember loving her book Number the Stars when I was in junior high. And her Anastasia Krupnik series. :) I must admit, I really disliked the Giver when I read it for class in sixth grade, but I'm anxious to reread it as an adult. There are so many books I read for school that I think I would enjoy much more now!
