Waiting on Wednesday (1) & What's Next? (1)

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine for book bloggers to highlight the books we are anxiously awaiting!

Today, Randi is waiting on:

Fingerprints of You
by Kristen-Paige Madonia
Publication Date: August 7

Summary from Goodreads: Lemon grew up with Stella, a single mom who wasn’t exactly maternal. Stella always had a drink in her hand and a new boyfriend every few months, and when things got out of hand, she would whisk Lemon off to a new town for a fresh beginning. Now, just as they are moving yet again, Lemon discovers that she is pregnant from a reckless encounter—with a guy Stella had been flirting with.

On the verge of revisiting her mother’s mistakes, Lemon struggles to cope with the idea of herself as a young unmarried mother, as well as the fact that she’s never met her own father. Determined to have at least one big adventure before she has the baby, Lemon sets off on a cross-country road trip, intending not only to meet her father, but to figure out who she wants to be.

Why I'm waiting anxiously: I'm a sucker for a Young Adult contemporary! Plus...that cover! It reminds me of Old School tattoos, which I love; in fact, the title looks like one of mine. I want to know more about Lemon (the name alone draws me in!) and her hardships.

Today, Becky is waiting on:

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)Scarlet
by Marissa Meyer
Publication Date: February 15 2013

Summary adapted from Goodreads: "Book two, Scarlet, is based on Little Red Riding Hood. It continues the story of Cinder’s, a partially cyborg girl who discovered she was a lost Luner Princess and her blood could cure the disease that plagued the city. In this installment, she attempts to escape Queen Levana’s vengeance and learn more about her past. The story also introduces readers to Scarlet, a girl living in southern France whose grandmother has mysteriously disappeared. In order to find her, Scarlet seeks the help of Wolf, a street fighter with more than a few mysteries of his own.

Why I'm waiting anxiously: Anyone who has read "Cinder" knows that the pace is insanely compelling.  The plot has the familiar themes that make you feel like you may have dreamed this story and forgotten it, only to find it again when you opened the book.  I was swept away in a  whirlwind of cyborgs and fairy-tale themes.

What are YOU waiting on this week?
&&&&&&&

What's Next is a weekly feature started by Hafsah at IceyBooks. Basically, we need your help deciding what to read next! So check out the books below & vote on what YOU think should be our next read!

Summary from GoodreadsI'm dreaming of the boy in the tree. I tell him stories. About the Jellicoe School and the Townies and the Cadets from a school in Sydney. I tell him about the war between us for territory. And I tell him about Hannah, who lives in the unfinished house by the river. Hannah, who is too young to be hiding away from the world. Hannah, who found me on the Jellicoe Road six years ago.

Taylor is the leader of the boarders at the Jellicoe School. She has to keep the upper hand in the territory wars and deal with Jonah Griggs - the enigmatic leader of the cadets, and someone she thought she would never see again.

And now Hannah, the person Taylor had come to rely on, has disappeared. Taylor's only clue is a manuscript about five kids who lived in Jellicoe eighteen years ago. She needs to find out more, but this means confronting her own story, making sense of her strange, recurring dream, and finding her mother - who abandoned her on the Jellicoe Road.

Summary from GoodreadsMiles Halter is fascinated by famous last words and tired of his safe life at home. He leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps." Much awaits Miles at Culver Creek, including Alaska Young. Clever, funny, screwed-up, and dead sexy, Alaska will pull Miles into her labyrinth and catapult him into the Great Perhaps.

Summary from GoodreadsClay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he'll find out how he made the list.

  5. YES to both of these! :-) Fingerprints of You is SO gorgeous, and yes, reminds me of an old-school tattoo. The bird on the front inspired my future tattoo and I will definitely be bringing my copy of this book to shop with me when I'm ready :-)

Is there anyone in the world NOT waiting on Scarlet?! I am so, so, so excited to read the next installment. Marissa Meyer has created quite the craze.
